ABA Board

The ABA Board consists of three marketer representatives and six grower representatives:

  • Adelaide Region – one representative
  • Riverland Region – two representatives
  • Riverina Region – one representative
  • Sunraysia Region – two representatives

Directors are elected by the Grower Members of the ABA for a two-year appointment.

The Board is responsible for overseeing the operation and direction of the ABA, and providing national representation for the Australian almond industry.

The ABA Board meets on a quarterly basis to oversee management and performance of the organisation. The Board represents the interests of the industry, providing strategic direction and overseeing the investments of the Almond Board of Australia.

Industry Advisory Committee (IAC)

The Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) is a committee of Horticulture Australia Ltd (HAL) which oversees the Almond R&D program funded by the Almond R&D levy and matched fundinng from the Federal Government.

The IAC performs a key role in the planning process by:

  • Developing a strategic plan, including a communications strategy
  • Setting annual strategic priorities
  • Developing an annual investment plan, including outputs, outcomes and budget
  • Providing an annual report to levy payers of levy activities

At the Annual Levy Payers Meeting (ALPM) the IAC Chair, or their representative, reports on the IAC’s activities including providing a summary of the strategic plan, the annual investment plan for the current financial year and a report on activities and levy expenditure for the previous financial year.

Production Committee

The Almond Production Committee oversees a wide range of production related Research & Development projects, also providing advice to the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) with respect to future priorities for investment in production based research initiatives.

Marketing Committee

The Almond Marketing Committee oversees the Almond Marketing Program, funded through a voluntary industry contribution. This committee also oversees  marketing related research and development projects and provides input with respect to market access issues to the Office of Horticulture Market Access (OHMA).
