Australian Nut Industry Council (ANIC)

ANIC is the federation of the Australian tree nut industries.  ANIC encourages industry communication and collaboration by addressing common issues, publication of the Australian Nutgrower Journal and hosting bi-annual Australian Nut Industry Conferences.


Dietitians Assocition Australia (DAA)

The Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) is the national Association of the profession, with branches in each State and Territory. The precursor of DAA, the Australian Association of Dietitians, was established in 1976. The Association became known as DAA in 1983. DAA represents over 4,000 members. Dietitians are employed in a wide variety of work areas including clinical dietetics, community nutrition, education, private sector, government, research and industry.

DAA provides a range of publications to keep members informed about the profession and current issues in nutrition and dietetics. These include Nutrition & Dietetics (previously titled the Australian Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics), website, newsletters, conference proceedings, handbooks and pamphlets. It also has a well developed marketing and public relations program which includes partnerships with industry. The introduction of the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) Program has provided an important framework for further developing and maintaining standards of practice by the profession.


GrowSmart Training

GrowSmart was initiated to address the severe shortage of qualified science graduates required to fill science career opportunities in the horticulture industry. GrowSmart has been designed to help overcome these shortages by working together with schools, universities and the horticulture industry.

GrowSmart aims to interest students in science, encouraging science studies at University and consideration of a career in the horticulture sector.


Heart Foundation

The Heart Foundation’s mission is to reduce suffering and death from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease in Australia. We have been an independent charity for five decades and, in that time, have championed the hearts of Australians by funding world-class research, supporting health professionals and promoting health in the community.

The Heart Foundation saves lives and improves health through funding world-class cardiovascular research, guidelines for health professionals, informing the public and assisting people with cardiovascular disease.

While the work over the past five decades has helped reduce the number of deaths, cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke and blood vessel disease) remains one of Australia’s most devastating health problems.

As a charity, the Heart Foundation relies on donations and gifts in Wills to continue its lifesaving research, education and health promotion work.


Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL)

Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) is a national research, development and marketing organisation that works in partnership with the horticulture sector to invest in programs that provide benefit to Australian horticulture industries.

HAL invests almost $80 million annually in projects in partnership with the horticulture sector. During the year HAL runs more than 1200 research, development and marketing projects covering a diversity of topics including: market access, market research, export marketing, domestic marketing, supply chain management, quality assurance, food safety, skills development, industry communication, biotechnology, biosecurity, breeding, plant health, pesticide regulation, agronomy, crop regulation, physiology, irrigation and sustainable practices.

As part of the Australian Government’s commitment to rural research and development, horticulture industries can access matching Commonwealth funding through HAL for research and development activities.


International Nut & Dried Fruit Foundation (INC)

The nut and dried fruit industry operates worldwide with production in more than 30 countries and consumption in more than 100 countries.

Millions of hectares of land and hundreds of thousands of growers and families are devoted to a world market industry with hundreds of millions of consumers.

The International Nut and Dried Fruit Foundation is a non-profit association founded in 1983, whose mission is to endorse activities that provide its membership new opportunities for increasing global consumption of almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, walnuts, peanuts, apricots, dates, figs, prunes and raisins.


Nuts for Life

Nuts for Life is a generic nutrition communications/education initiative by the Australian Tree Nut Industry (Australian nut growers as well as processors, packers and importers of nuts) to provide unbranded, useful, credible and up-to-date information about the nutrition and health benefits of regular nut consumption. The nutrition team at Nuts for Life is committed to providing nutrition information that is based on sound science. Nuts for Life has been operational since 2003 and is funded through voluntary contributions from the Australian Tree Nut Industry as well as Australian government matched funds for R&D activities through Horticulture Australia.


National Irrigators’ Council (NIC)

The National Irrigators’ Council (NIC) is the peak body representing irrigators in Australia. The NIC’s objective is to develop projects and policies to ensure the efficiency, viability and sustainability of Australian irrigated agriculture and the security and reliability of water entitlements.  NIC currently has 24 member organisations covering a variety of states, regions and commodities.  NIC was formed in mid-2008 to provide a single, unified voice for irrigators at the national level.


Plant Health Australia (PHA)

PHA is a peak national coordinating body for plant health in Australia and has wide government and industry representation.  PHA was formed in April 2000 as a non-profit public company to identify and coordinate activities that address current and emerging national plant health issues that impact on Australia’s plant industries.


Pollination Australia

Pollination Australia is the cross-industry alliance of the honeybee industry and pollination dependent industries. The alliance has been formed to guide the establishment of a commercial pollination industry to help protect the honeybee industry and ensure continued pollination of important food crops in Australia.


Produce Marketing Association (PMA)

PMA Australia-New Zealand Limited is the first stand-alone global affiliate of Produce Marketing Association (PMA) - the leading global trade association serving the entire produce and floral supply chains by enhancing the marketing of produce, floral, and related products and services worldwide. PMA members are buyers and sellers from every segment of the produce and floral supply chain.

The overall objective of the organisation is to "connect, inform and deliver business solutions that enhance members' prosperity". It will do this through quality net-working events and providing educational and insightful information to its members that has real practical usage.


Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA)

Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA) is a professional organisation of dietitians specialising in the field of sports nutrition. SDA aims to provide up to date sports nutrition information based on sound scientific principles for both the general public and health professionals.

Sports Dietitians provide advice on issues such as maximizing energy levels, eating to optimize growth and development, eating before competition, recovery, best fluid choices for exercise and staying hydrated, maintaining appropriate body fat levels, and eating when travelling. Sports dietitians assist Australians to make healthier food choices by providing accurate nutrition information based on scientific principles.
